Geogrid, interface element, HISS, FEM
Geogrids have for two decades been used as reinforcing material in geotechnical engineering problems. To study the interface element behaviour, pullout tests were conducted on a geogrid embedded in the Yamuna sand at four normal pressures. The Hierarchical Single Surface (HISS) model proposed by Desai and co-workers is used to model the interface element behaviour. Modelled behaviour is predicted using finite element method (FEM) and is compared with the laboratory results.
