The high complexity of environment-related tasks can be decreased by structuring the domain expert knowledge into a knowledge base. This article presents a knowledge-based model for the development of an atmospheric environmental protection system applied in the area of Ploiesti, where the petrochemical industry is a major contributor to air pollution.
