Abstract

The work presented here describes a computer model for generating Doppler ultrasound signals from blood whose instantaneous frequency is proportional to the scattered velocity of red blood cells and then represents it in a time frequency and time-scale domains. In order to compare the performance of Doppler signal processing methods, a computer simulation model is needed. Hence we used a plausible model for simulating Doppler signal and then applied some methods of time frequency and time-scale energy distributions on it. The result of model was then compared to the realistic Doppler signal from carotid artery as well as the results of distributions. The results show that the characteristics of simulated signal are similar to those of the real Doppler signal and both time-frequency and time-scale energy distributions similarly represent the frequency content of signals in time with some differences in time/frequency resolutions and the existing interferences.
