In this paper, we develop an optimization method to
determine the optimal series compensation ratio for a
distribution network. The objective function consists of
minimizing the voltage variation under several stability
constraints. An initial power flow solution is used to
evaluate the problem constraints formulated via algebraic
equations and inequalities.
The validation and effectiveness of the optimization
method have been demonstrated by means of simulation
analysis using PSB Power System Blockset Program in
conjunction with Simulink.
