A Mathematical Model for Edge Detection using Rotational Wavelet Transform

Automatic edge detection in complex background is one of the most difficult task in pattern recognition. In this paper we propose a mathematical model for edge detection using rotational wavelet transform. The 2D rotational continu ous wavelet transform has an additional advantage that can analyze directional features of images. Through explicit computation based on Radon measure analysis we obtain quantitative results that support and direct implementation of the method. Effectiveness of the proposed approach is shown by the experiments with MIT Face Database.
