On Block-based Image Watermarking

In this paper, we describe a class of block-based wa termarking techniques for embedding logos and pseudo random number sequences into digital images. We also present a novel block-based watermark embedding scheme using singular value decomposition. These methods al low direct embedding and extraction of watermarks on bit streams in the compressed domain and also provide local control which allows embedding of the watermark adap tively based on the local visual characteristics. Simulation results are provided which demonstrate the robustness of the proposed watermarking technique to a variety of com mon image degradations.
